Bali Starling Song Bird, A Beautiful White Bird - Yvonne Rennesia Gulo

Bali itself has their own indigenous bird called The Bali Starling. This rare bird can only be found in West Bali National Park and at Nusa Penida. This bird is a beautiful white bird with some blue decorative skin in their eyes. Because its origin is in Bali, this bird has become the iconic fauna in Bali. Not surprisingly, if people know this bird came from Bali.

A little fun fact of this bird is that it appeared in 200 Rupiah Indonesia coins. Even after decades people would still fall in love with this bird by seeing the color of white fur is very charming combined with the color around the bright blue eyes. The black color on the tips of the wings and tail seems to be the right sweetener accent, making the audiences never to be bored to stare at this bird for a long time. Because of the exquisite features in their body, they become the target of bird collectors and hunters to do illegal transactions because the price of these birds is going high.

The adult bird comes in size, about 25 to 28 centimeters. The female and male birds have similar characteristics, but the male bird is slightly bigger and also has a longer crest than the female bird. Also, they have a sharp chattering especially if they chatter in groups, the empathic sound will be produced. The females usually lay and incubate 2 to 3 eggs, and both male and female Bali Starling birds bring food for their chicks.

What is encouraging is that currently, the Bali Starling breeding is booming. That way the life of the Bali Starling can be preserved from extinction. One of the captivity has been established in the West Bali National Park, Buleleng, Bali since 1995. In Buleleng, we can immediately see Bali starlings in their natural habitat.
